Borderlands 3 Is Changing Its Coop Looting System

Borderlands 3 is taking a whole new take on its fantastic but partially flawed loot system

Borderlands 1, 2, and the pre-sequel have all had the same general type of loot system, and for the most part it has worked flawlessly with some slight frustration, there’s nothing worse than taking down a giant boss, seeing all that sweet loot pouring out like a fountain, its glorious until one of your 3 partners runs over and steals all that sweet goodness for themself, throwing the scraps back out and making you sort through the garbage to find something worth the 5 min long boss battle.

In a blog post on PlayStation blog post  a very important quote that came out of it was, “Regardless of your respective levels or mission progress, you and your friends can play together online or on the couch, and not only will each of you deal a meaningful amount of damage, you’ll also receive your own discrete loot stream. No more loot ninjas!” this is huge, for the first time there will be no need to get into huge arguments with your group over who got what, it can be pure smooth sailing for killing skags, bandits, and whatever new monsters gearbox will throw at us. Risk of Rain 2

Overall 7.9/10 Total game score
Price$19.99
QUALITY 7.6/10Overall quality score
Performance
9/10Haven’t run into issues yet
Controls 6/10Sprinting feels clunky at time
Graphics 8/10Very well for the style but needs refinement
GAME PLAY
8/10Overall game play score
Difficulty 10/10hard if you want it to be
Content 7/10Not a lot of variety but can’t expect much from a game this early in its life cycle
Immersion 10/10 Glued to screen
Story 5/10 some elements of story but still lacking
DESIGN 8/10 Overall design score
Sound
8/10 Love the music and SFX is great
Interface 9/10 Very clean with the new item notification gets annoying
Mapping 7/10 Maps are fantastic but needs more of them

Being my first rogue-like game, I went into Risk of Rain 2 with an open mind and got engaged to the gameplay loop almost immediately. While most games have you grinding for a big item, or trying to beat a boss, this game has you do that but multiple time per game. Every item stacks its effects and creates interesting and dynamic builds only because it’s fun. Every survivor has their own niche which makes them suited for fighting different enemies better. For example the Huntress can take out waves of small enemies whereas MUL-T can shred bosses with his lethal nail gun. The game lets you have multiple of the same survivor in the same game so there isn’t any fighting over survivors, which is a must have for a game like this. For being in alpha and steam early access, I am pleasantly surprised with how smooth and clean the gameplay is . I recommend playing with friends, but I found that the game is equally as enjoyable with 1 partner, as with 3.

The further you get the more you realize that some of the survivors are better suited for deep runs, but you have to make it really far to get to that point. Due to the reliance on the finite loot, you are rewarded for being greedy, therefore, Risk of rain 2 will test your friendships.  The game lacks a few quality of life changes, but some mods can fix these (ex. Being able to drop items).

Overall this game is worth a buy considering its 20 $ price tag, and if not, keep an eye for a sale. This game has nowhere to go but up.

Is Fallout 76 Good Yet?

You will definitely have to play before deciding but a lot has been fixed, the fan base still playing is still small but at least they are getting some content to play with.

With the new addition of a brand new free update earlier in the month, Wild Appalachia added a lot of quality of life changes, new weapons, armor, missions, but most importantly a brand new cryptid.

In the update as a whole there was quite a few big additions, some of the more notable is a new legendary gear trader, in order to trade any items you have to give a legendary in exchange, this is great for the people who are just sitting on a hold mine of stuff they dont want anymore. Player vending has tinnaly been added meaning players can now set up shops for other players to use, this is great! Finally walking around the barren waste actually has somthing to look for, stumbling upon a full mansion filled with loot to trade or buy, it slightly makes the world feel more full now that people dont just have tiny shacks with a stash in it.

Finally a true survival mode, a fantastic step in the right direction, turns out someone at Bethesda has been listening to the fans, this mode gets rid of all the stupid restrictions of the normal game, no more normalized stats, no shooting people and not being able to do damage unless they shoot back, and of course more loot.

A new quest line has also popped up but not fully fleshed out yet, finding the secrets of Nukashine is fun, talking to a drunk robot with alot of dialog is definitly a bonus, unfortunately he doesn’t have many missions for you, at the same time you can now brew your own Nukashine and other fine alcoholic beverages.

Overall fallout 76 has been out for quite a while and after constant updates, big content drops, and a more focused team on making the game good, it unfortunately is still not great, it’s getting alot better over time but it’s not where it should be, given a couple more months it might be where it should of been on release, for now keep avoiding. For more Fallout news hopefully more cheery then this make sure to stay tuned to Unbiased Gaming.

How To Unlock Every Character In Risk Of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2 has a total of six characters that you can unlock by completing certain challenges, I will explain how to get each character and how they play.

MUL-T

The MUL-T Character screen

Mission – Beat the first boss 5 times

This is by far the easiest one to do because all you have to do is play the game and beat the first boss 5 times which is extremely easy to do, you will be able to kill the boss most likely every time given you have a few items and dont stand in front of all their attacks. MUL-T is a robot that has two firing modes and the ability to hold 2 ultimate’s, his first weapon is a machine gun esc weapon that fires rapidly and wildly it does a decent amount of damage, the other weapon is a harpoon gun that takes a second to charge up but will one shot most small enemies up to the 3rd realm with no items, he has a concussion grenade that is thrown and stuns all enemies in the area, his last ability is a dash that grants armor and speed which is a great tool for escapes.

Huntress

The Huntress Character screen

Mission – Complete the 3rd teleporter boss fight without dying

To get the Huntress is slightly more difficult then the MUL-T, I recommend doing it with friends to make it a lot easier. This is probably my favorite character she has a great escape where she goes invisible and dashes 10 ft forward, her main weapon is a bow that auto locks and cant miss, this is a great advantage but at the same time, trying to attack one enemy in particular can be annoying if they are surrounded by a few others, her specials are a Glaive that bounces around to different enemy’s doing constant damage, and a rain of arrows that constantly, well rains arrows in a circle that does a bunch of damage.

Engineer

The Engineer Character Screen

Mission – Beat 30 stages

The Engineer is maybe my least favorite classes but again an easy one to get, all you have to do is beat 30 stages/bosses, which will be achieved just by playing the game. The Engineer has 6 chargeable grenades that bounce and do a lot of damage to a very wide area, his two best things are an impregnable shield and a turret, the shield is self explanatory it blocks all damage, but the turret is fantastic because it inherits all of the items that you have, his last ability is a mine that explodes when enemies walk close to it for 300% damage. Engineer is for people who like to have autonomous objects do the work for them while they sit comfortable in a impervious bubble, not a fan.

Artificer

The Artificer Character Screen

Mission – Free the survivor in the gem

The Artificer is a little more difficult then the rest to get, you first need to acquire 11 lunar coins, they drop from enemies but have a very slim chance to, once you get 11 the next step is to find a small blue looking stone(newt shrine) like the one below.

Newt Shrine

Once the shrine is found it will cost 1 lunar coin to open, after the round boss is beaten a blue portal will open, jump through and a new level will load that is a straight path, follow it until in a room with a giant lizard talk to it and pay 10 lunar coins to unlock the artificer .

Mercenary

The Mercenary Character Screen

Mission – Find celestial orb and beat level

The final and hardest character for the moment is the mercenary, not only he the most difficult to play but unlock as well, after beating at least 4 levels eventually a message will appear that says “a celestial orb has been found”, once the message shows up all you have to do is beat the level boss and jump through the giant glowing blue portal just like the artificers. The mercenary is the hardest to play mainly because he is the only melee character at the moment, melee is difficult cause of the many flying mobs in the game that are hard to reach or kill, some bosses cannot be damaged that much if they fly or tunnel.

When Risk of Rain 2 comes out with more characters, loot, or secrets you can find out how to get them right here on Unbiased Gaming.

Official Borderlands 3 announce trailer

Unfortunately what we all feared is coming true, Borderlands 3 will be a 6 month epic games exclusive and wont be on any other launcher untill 2020, the release date is confirmed to be September 13th so at least the tweet on April’s fools wasnt a joke.

BL3 box art

This is the 3rd major game Epic has stolen from steam and a lot more will most likely be coming in the future, with Epics better revenue stream for developers they could swing alot more major companies even indie developers to hop on the launcher, its yet to be seen if Epic will dive into the indie side of the games industry where steam has strived in for many years.

Elder Scrolls Online 5th Anniversary

The Elder Scrolls Online just hit its 5th birthday and Zenimax is throwing a five week in game party starting on April 4th, each week there are opportunities to gain new custom loot and a brand new quest. ’83, PTSD Coming Soon

Antimatter games the brilliant minds behind the Rising Storm series, killing floor 1 and 2, evolve and a few other memorable games. They have officially released a new trailer for a cold war tactical shooter.

’83 announcement trailer

Antimatter has done this before dropping a trailer that looks amazing out of nowhere eith no information then go silent for a while just to do it again, each trailer is better then the last like the case of Rising storm Vietnam, almost all of their games are blind filled and horrifying so I am excited to see how this game plays out, there haven’t been too many cold war games compared to the major contenders of WWII and Vietnam so it will be interesting to see how they take it and how realistic they make it down to the weapons and vehicles, Rising Vietnam had blood curdling screams and Huey helicopters but no ground vehicles, hopefully in ’83 we get tanks and more helicopters then the last game.

Antimatter games isint exactly a AAA game production company but they always deliver on great games with a heafty amount of content, whether that’s weapons, outfits, game modes, maps, but the one thing I think they usually lack is sustainability, they don’t update the games enough after release which can be rough of you play a game for 3 months without seeing a single update to fix huge bugs or add much needed quality of life content.

No matter what happens I can almost guarantee ’83 will be a game worth getting, and anymore news that comes out about it you can guarantee you can find it here on unbiased games.

Black Ops 4 Battle Royale Free To Play For All Of April

COD Black ops 4 battle royale for all of April starting yesterday will be free to play as well as coming with a new map.

Just for this month Blackout is free and they are releasing a new map as well this one is based around Alcatraz.

Depending on how the map plays out this could bring a portion of people back to blackout that switched over to Apex and went back to Fortnite. It is yet to be seen if the Alcatraz based map will be paid or free content, with Activision not making there estimated revenue goals for Blops 4 this could be the first push to make up some of the missing profit while bringing a lot of new and returning players to the game. You can find the trailer directly below and see if your interested I personally haven’t played the game in quite some time but this might just Bring me back.

Atlas The Boat That Never Got To Float

Overall 4.5/10 Total game score
QUALITY 5/10Overall quality score
Performance
4/10Only runs well if you have a high end PC
Controls 8/10Controls are easy to use and changable
Graphics 3/10Graphics are not good at all super low quality even at maxed settings
GAME PLAY
3.5/10Overall game play score
Difficulty 7/10From the climate, enemies, and other players the game at times can be extremely difficult
Content 5/10A reasonable amount of content and things to do from crafting boats to making/ raiding houses
Immersion 3/10 With constant bugs and glitches its hard to stay fully immersed
Story 0/10 No story at all not even a hint of one
DESIGN 5.5/10 Overall design score
Sound
6/10 Music for the most part fits with the actions that the player makes from fighting to simply mining
Interface 5/10 Very clean and easy to see everything except for side effects from poisons or deficiencies
Mapping 6/10 Map is giant with over 700 unique land masses, sailing between them takes forever

Atlas a game with high promises of over 40,000 people in one game all at once but upon release, the servers couldn’t handle even 10,000 people with constant crashes and no one being able to get in game caused a lot of first day problems even after the fact of being able to get in the game it was extremely laggy and completely unplayable. launch day aside the game had even more problems mainly with performance and balance issues collecting resources was next to impossible dying before anyone was able to collect anything, getting off the starter islands and into the real game finally but unfortunately if you play alone your not going to be getting very far.

Atlas is mainly based for widespread groups of people that are always on and can defend the base and the ships otherwise everyday a solo player gets on there base and ships they worked so hard and long to get will be destroyed and gone, it is possible to hire crewmen to protect your stuff but they are easy to dispatch of and don’t do a ton of damage. Leveling up and making new equipment is relatively easy except if you need resources that aren’t on an island you have to take a half hour journey across the ocean just to get a few items to travel a half hour back which could be extremely fun if there were something to do but for the most part its just sitting there changing sails to get the wind to push you a little bit faster. Atlas is getting a giant game changing update at the end of March or early April 2019 that the company claims will drastically change all the content, performance, and balance issues which could be huge for the game, I hope it does Im a big fan and hope it takes off.
