Where we hard- dropping boys? This new installment in the long list of Tetris variants is a blast! With its engaging gameplay, revamped objective, and stunning visuals, I found myself glued to my switch trying to master the new take on an old classic. The game lacks a tutorial leaving the game mechanics confusing to new players, but it’s not too hard to figure out. You will start off getting blown away by other players, but slowly work your way up to building faster, cleaner, and smarter. Similar to other battle royale games, you are put against 98 other players, and the last person standing wins the game. That is the extent of the similarities. Tetris 99 has constant conflict and never ending build battles, leading to fast paced gameplay, and quick games. Considering it is free, this is a must have for any switch owner.
Overall it’s a fantastic game, and that cannot be understated, but it lacks the variety of game modes that make other titles in the genre so replayable.
