Borderlands 3 Is Changing Its Coop Looting System

Borderlands 3 is taking a whole new take on its fantastic but partially flawed loot system

Borderlands 1, 2, and the pre-sequel have all had the same general type of loot system, and for the most part it has worked flawlessly with some slight frustration, there’s nothing worse than taking down a giant boss, seeing all that sweet loot pouring out like a fountain, its glorious until one of your 3 partners runs over and steals all that sweet goodness for themself, throwing the scraps back out and making you sort through the garbage to find something worth the 5 min long boss battle.

In a blog post on PlayStation blog post  a very important quote that came out of it was, “Regardless of your respective levels or mission progress, you and your friends can play together online or on the couch, and not only will each of you deal a meaningful amount of damage, you’ll also receive your own discrete loot stream. No more loot ninjas!” this is huge, for the first time there will be no need to get into huge arguments with your group over who got what, it can be pure smooth sailing for killing skags, bandits, and whatever new monsters gearbox will throw at us. 7 Days To Die, Dead Dogs And Zombie Hordes

This game combines some of my favorite things, zombies, base building, and early access games that always get updates, I’ve played this game for an extremely long time and seen it evolve over time, from a brand new release with only a few zombie types and not a ton of stuff to do, all the way to the newest update that overhauled the entire weapons and armor system, additionally new vehicles including a helicopter.

Overall 7.5/10 Total game score
Price$24.99
QUALITY 7/10Overall quality score
Performance
9/10Runs extremely well on most PC’s, starts to lag when there are a huge amount of zombies
Controls 8/10Changeable key binds, easy to use basic controls
Graphics 4/10Graphics are older looking and, dont have much polish,
GAME PLAY
6.5/10Overall game play score
Difficulty 7/10Days are somewhat easy, nights are difficult, and blood moons are insane
Content 8/10Many updates that happen often, adding a lot of content, still a lot to use and explore
Immersion 6/10 Not many bugs or glitches, zombies move and fight realistically
Story 4/10 few scraps of paper here and there that explain some backstory to the infection, but nothing too solid as of yet
DESIGN 8/10 Overall design score
Sound
6/10 Blood moon music really puts you in the fight mood, ambient sounds are nice and subtle
Interface 8/10 Very clean and easy to see everything, easy to use
Mapping 10/10 Free roam map, proceduraly generated

7 Days to Die takes a very different approach to a open world, base building, zombie game, in the fact that you and whatever cohorts you can bring together have to find as many materials, weapons, clothes, and armor, build the most fortified base, with the best defenses, then hope you have set yourself up in a strategic position, fortified all your blocks and when the 7th day comes other wise known as a blood moon. The blood moon comes every 7 days, when it does every enemy becomes faster, stronger, and more deadly, the horde will destroy everything near you unless you set enough traps, from spikes to pitfalls, anything can be useful as long as it leads to the next morning.

7 Days has been out for quite a while and each update adds a bunch of new things to play with, unfortunately after a while the game can get slightly repetitive, reaching the 70th plus day, looting the same buildings, fighting the same enemies, it’s always fun to explore the giant sprawling cities, to the tiny little town, each varying in design and architecture in the procedurally generated maps, every once in a while there will be a tiny lore piece that starts to hint at a story but doesn’t go much farther then a few scraps of paper talking about how the infection was made, created, or spread, and sometimes you find zombies in glass cases.

Overall the game has a lot of good things going for it and it is ever expanding with major updates, good community communication meaning the dev’s actually give the people what they want, on the downside the game can get repetitive, with the same rinse and repeat clearing houses, getting the same loot. Music is always a good fit with intense fight music but also nice ambient sounds. There is some content that could be added that would make things a little more interesting but there is still a ton of things to play with and explore, with and ever expanding map huge cities and towns, a giant and ever growing list of tools, weapons, armor, and vehicles, with much more to come in the foreseeable future with the dev’s dedication this game is definitely one to pick up and watch develop as it keeps growing. Is Fallout 76 Good Yet?

You will definitely have to play before deciding but a lot has been fixed, the fan base still playing is still small but at least they are getting some content to play with.

With the new addition of a brand new free update earlier in the month, Wild Appalachia added a lot of quality of life changes, new weapons, armor, missions, but most importantly a brand new cryptid.

In the update as a whole there was quite a few big additions, some of the more notable is a new legendary gear trader, in order to trade any items you have to give a legendary in exchange, this is great for the people who are just sitting on a hold mine of stuff they dont want anymore. Player vending has tinnaly been added meaning players can now set up shops for other players to use, this is great! Finally walking around the barren waste actually has somthing to look for, stumbling upon a full mansion filled with loot to trade or buy, it slightly makes the world feel more full now that people dont just have tiny shacks with a stash in it.

Finally a true survival mode, a fantastic step in the right direction, turns out someone at Bethesda has been listening to the fans, this mode gets rid of all the stupid restrictions of the normal game, no more normalized stats, no shooting people and not being able to do damage unless they shoot back, and of course more loot.

A new quest line has also popped up but not fully fleshed out yet, finding the secrets of Nukashine is fun, talking to a drunk robot with alot of dialog is definitly a bonus, unfortunately he doesn’t have many missions for you, at the same time you can now brew your own Nukashine and other fine alcoholic beverages.

Overall fallout 76 has been out for quite a while and after constant updates, big content drops, and a more focused team on making the game good, it unfortunately is still not great, it’s getting alot better over time but it’s not where it should be, given a couple more months it might be where it should of been on release, for now keep avoiding. For more Fallout news hopefully more cheery then this make sure to stay tuned to Unbiased Gaming.

Borderlands 3 Will Be an Epic Exclusive For 6 Months

Official Borderlands 3 announce trailer

Unfortunately what we all feared is coming true, Borderlands 3 will be a 6 month epic games exclusive and wont be on any other launcher untill 2020, the release date is confirmed to be September 13th so at least the tweet on April’s fools wasnt a joke.

BL3 box art

This is the 3rd major game Epic has stolen from steam and a lot more will most likely be coming in the future, with Epics better revenue stream for developers they could swing alot more major companies even indie developers to hop on the launcher, its yet to be seen if Epic will dive into the indie side of the games industry where steam has strived in for many years.

’83, PTSD Coming Soon

Antimatter games the brilliant minds behind the Rising Storm series, killing floor 1 and 2, evolve and a few other memorable games. They have officially released a new trailer for a cold war tactical shooter.

’83 announcement trailer

Antimatter has done this before dropping a trailer that looks amazing out of nowhere eith no information then go silent for a while just to do it again, each trailer is better then the last like the case of Rising storm Vietnam, almost all of their games are blind filled and horrifying so I am excited to see how this game plays out, there haven’t been too many cold war games compared to the major contenders of WWII and Vietnam so it will be interesting to see how they take it and how realistic they make it down to the weapons and vehicles, Rising Vietnam had blood curdling screams and Huey helicopters but no ground vehicles, hopefully in ’83 we get tanks and more helicopters then the last game.

Antimatter games isint exactly a AAA game production company but they always deliver on great games with a heafty amount of content, whether that’s weapons, outfits, game modes, maps, but the one thing I think they usually lack is sustainability, they don’t update the games enough after release which can be rough of you play a game for 3 months without seeing a single update to fix huge bugs or add much needed quality of life content.

No matter what happens I can almost guarantee ’83 will be a game worth getting, and anymore news that comes out about it you can guarantee you can find it here on unbiased games.

Black Ops 4 Battle Royale Free To Play For All Of April

COD Black ops 4 battle royale for all of April starting yesterday will be free to play as well as coming with a new map.

Just for this month Blackout is free and they are releasing a new map as well this one is based around Alcatraz.

Depending on how the map plays out this could bring a portion of people back to blackout that switched over to Apex and went back to Fortnite. It is yet to be seen if the Alcatraz based map will be paid or free content, with Activision not making there estimated revenue goals for Blops 4 this could be the first push to make up some of the missing profit while bringing a lot of new and returning players to the game. You can find the trailer directly below and see if your interested I personally haven’t played the game in quite some time but this might just Bring me back.

Fallout 76 Is Not Good, Sadly

This is a rough review to write – I absolutely love Fallout games and almost everything about this game but unfortunately Fallout 76 is pretty shit.

Overall 5.5/10 Total game score
Price$59.99
QUALITY 6.5/10Overall quality score
Performance
7/10Runs well even on low-end PC’s
Controls 8/10Changeable bindings and fluid controls
Graphics 5/10Same engine for the past 10 years so graphics are old and outdated
GAME PLAY
4.5/10Overall game play score
Difficulty 6/10 Enemies’ ability to scale cause some serious difficulty and maybe one of the few positives
Content 4/10A lot of basic stuff missing and map is extremely empty
Immersion 5/10 Lore issues and constant bugs can be extremely immersion breaking
Story 4/10 Story is hard to find at times and often just brings you to different locations until you reach the nuclear silos
DESIGN 5.5/10 Overall design score
Sound
8/10 For the most part the music fits the general atmosphere. Includes old school music and intense fight songs
Interface 5/10 Clean for the most part, but if you get too many quests the side of the screen becomes a huge cluster
Mapping 4/10 Open world with few locations in it except for some major cities and buildings

Fallout 76 is the newest release in the Fallout franchise. The catch with this new game is that it’s technically the first MMO allowing up to 24 players in the map at the same time. This means friends (up to 4) can group up and explore the wasteland together. Initially this sounds like a fantastic new experiential adventure where you can kill mutants and death claws until you begin to start exploring and realize the map is completely empty for the most part. With few major landmarks that are worth visiting, you show up to a location, look around for five minutes, kill a few random mutants or ghouls, pick up some slightly better loot, then rinse and repeat. Compared to the rest of the fallout series there was always NPC’s to talk to and missions to complete or receive.

With Bethesda’s very interesting idea to avoid having NPC’s drastically change the entire game, it makes the game feel completely lifeless except for a few robots and computers that talk to you. The one bonus is that other players who act like NPCs will give you quests to clear out caves or towns in return for caps, weapons, or equipment. The music is back in all its fantastic glory through the nostalgic jams of the 50’s. This by far is the best part about the game and shows that at its core it’s still a Fallout game simply tweaked to incorporate group experience and seems rushed to be published, so there’s not a lot to explore. In terms of weapons and gear, there is still a metric fuck ton of variables that can all be fully customized with the same sort of mods as seen previously in Fallout 4. One new feature in FO76 is the “build anywhere system” as seen in Fallout 4 but just expanded to include more items and better utilities such as better snapping and better customizability. As I previously stated in the beginning of this review, I love this game – but it hurts to say that it’s shit due to rushing product release and failing to put enough effort into making content and quests.

Black Ops 4 Releases $30 Hammer

Activison releases a $30 hammer melee weapon for Blackops 4, has this gone on too long?

I’ve always been a huge fan of the call of duty game’s but the recent few have really fallen off with less content and more predatory business practices that try and gouge the consumer with micro transactions that can have massive game play advantages to the people who can afford them.

Activision loves those sweet sweet micro transactions and why wouldn’t they? after you make a giant AAA title sell it for $60 you can keep making money off of it by selling tiny red dots, skins that look like garbage, and now a hammer for $30.

The new melee weapon to come to BLOPS 4 is the hangman a sledgehammer with a giant head, the hangman is now apart of the triple take package which comes with ten levels of the battle pass and ten loot boxes all for the price of $30. This raises the question how far can anti-consumer practices take you? Activision has constantly been under fire a few months after the release when they brought micro transactions to the game after all of the reviews had already been published with outrageous prices and a battle pass that took the word grind to a whole new level or if you don’t want to grind buy some COD points and buy your way to the top of the tier list.

Story 2/10 Some hints at a story from time to time from voice lines but no main missions or actual story
DESIGN 9/10 Overall design score
Sound
9/10 The music changes depending on if you are simply just mining or a swarm is coming, this drastically changes how the games atmosphere impacts the player
Interface 9/10 Small and compact UI allows for full sight of the game with access to equipment
Mapping 9/10 Each map is very different with caves and randomization that cause good matches every time

Deep Rock Galactic is an early access game that’s been out for over a year now, The game gets constant updates that add new weapons, enemies and maps that drastically change the game every time the player gets on to squash some bugs I’ve been playing this game since its release and it never ceases to give pure enjoyment and the worst horror, there are now five levels of difficulty that range from one person playing that has never touched a controller/ keyboard and mouse, then theirs difficulty five which is like getting shot in the back of the head being on fire while drowning with a knife in your back, in other words its pure hell, enemies pour through every crevice and cave possible you and four friends have to try and complete your objective which changes depending on the mission you and your friends want to die on after you jump in the drop pod get locked in for mining, shooting, and terror.

DESIGN 8/10 Overall design score
Sound
7/10 Atmosphere and music does it fit?
Interface 9/10
Mapping 9/10 Maps are all relatively the same size they vary from Close quarters combat and long rooms with corridors

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a standalone game that tried to capitalize on CS:GO being the biggest and most loved type of game, a round based tactical shooter where landing shots and making a strategy are the best option a team has to win. Siege started with 20 operators (plus a recruit charecter which had no specialization), now as of the latest update there are 46 different operators to play as, they all have different gadgets, weapons, and niches to master that will give any player a tough time to figure out all of the ins and outs to a couple let alone all 46. Ubisoft has done a fantastic job at adding huge content updates that each add 2-4 operators and a map that completely change up the meta of the game to make sure no one gets bored and always has to watch every corner of an ever growing threat from every angle of a new or old map.

Year 1 and original operators

Each map is meticulously made to create a well balanced match every match, from being able to shoot through and blow up walls, climb up buildings to get better viewpoints, or fortifying optimal positions to hold the perfect angle and set a trap for the other team, with no one side being severely over powered each round and match will depend on what operators and tactics your team use to try and overpower the enemy, whether you pick someone who can blow open walls, shoot grenades into a room, or be able to throw cameras so your team can see more of the map, something can always be done to gain an advantage on your enemy.
